Poached pears

Poached Pears in Red wine is a simple dish, but the pears have to be so soft they can be eaten with a spoon, so take care to cook them long enough

Ingredients

  • 1kg stew pears
  • 250 ml red wine
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf

Preparation

1. Prepare
Carefully peel the pears but leave the stalks on.

2. Stew
Put the pears into the COMBEKK Dutch Oven then add wine and some water to cover the pears. 

3. Finishing touches
Add the sugar and cinnamon stick and bring to the boil. Add bay leaf and cloves for some extra aroma then stew on a low heat for 1 hour. Serve the pears with some of the poaching liquid.
